Llangwm v Quins

LLANGWM RFC 7 - PEMBROKE DOCK HARLEQUINS 55.

The Quins for the 2nd successive week came away with a fine Bonus Point win over a Llangwm side that fought to the end and never gave up.

After absorbing early Wasps pressure, the Quins opened the scoring when Full Back Paul Jonkers raced over in the corner after 10 minutes for his first try of the season, Outside Half Lewis Davies missed the difficult conversion. 5 minutes later the Quins were at it again when Centre Thomas Doyle continued where he left off the previous week by touching down near the uprights, Lewis Davies popped over the conversion to put the Quins 12 points to the good. The Quins were now putting pressure on their hosts, with Prop Dean Wilcox leading from the front with some powerful bursts. Paul Jonkers soon grabbed his 2nd try which was superbly converted from wide out by Lewis Davies. With the Quins 19 points up the Wasps hit back with a penalty try after a Quins obstruction. Kieran Walkden added the extras to bring the score back to 7-19. It was imperative that if the Wasps wanted to stay in the game they had to score next, but it was the Quins who hit back immediately when No8 Barry Parsons powered over, Lewis Davies added the extras to send his side in at the break with a 7-26 lead and the all important bonus point.

The Quins started the 2nd half on the front foot and it was not long before they crossed the Wasps line. Thomas Doyle took a fine weighted pass from co Centre Jake Griffiths to grab his 2nd try, Lewis Davies missed the conversion. The Outside Half soon made amends when he scored a fine try after a strong run, he missed the conversion. The Quins now had a 7-36 lead and were out of sight. Prop James Gardener who has been one of the finds of the season for the Quins scored his 1st try for the Club after a quickly taken tap penalty which was also the Quins 50th of the season. The Quins added 2 more tries as the match drew to a close through outstanding Flanker Stefan Halward and Thomas Doyle who completed his hat-trick. Lewis Davies Converted both to end the match with 15 Points, which was the same haul he had in the home fixture back in October.
